thinktoomucha little recap about (most of) the things i read and wrote this month!
Starting with the writing part, this year i joined dream girls fest, which was crucial in getting me back in the game after a couple of months without writing anything of substance. As much as I dream of writing something 10k+ one day (hopefully), I'm very much a short fic writer and these types of events are so fun for that!

I honestly didn't think I'd write for the wujus again, at least not so soon. I haven't kept up with their individual activities during their hiatus, and it's sad to say it but my interest in them has… pretty much waned with no new music to keep up with. Besides that, most of what I wrote for them (re: my wips and the two fics I did finish) has Sojung as a mc, so this was new.
As soon as I saw the prompt I thought of eunwon and their shared birthday, because what's sadder than associating an important date with someone who hurt you and is no longer in your life? Dawon is the member I've always related the most to, and on one hand while it can be hard to imagine her hurting someone, I can see how her non-confrontational, shy personality could cause a rift between her and a partner.
She always got a kiss when they were alone, anyway—on the cheek, and on the mouth, and on other secret places that made her blush just to think about.

This might be the most tender thing I've ever written, and for that it instantly became one of my favorite works. I feel a little sad that it's so short (which is ironic, given I'm the one who wrote it), but I need a million words of Jimin being utterly and completely in love with Yizhuo. I know I keep saying this over and over but MYs insistence on writing them off as mother and daughter annoys me so much, I need to see them kiss each other on the mouth sanayeon style. They’re two years apart, people, get it together.
Also, the “my baby” line comes from this because it made me insane when I first saw it. Yes, Ningning is Jimin’s baby, but in the they’re in love with each other and fuck nasty way. Sorry for the vent.

I’ve had this in me ever since Luck promotions, because Kim Wansun is so clearly smitten with Seulgi and Seulgi seems to love the attention so much she might just die from it. I find it so cute and also a staple of Seulgi’s talent that she’s been consistently on Wansun’s radar (ever since their collab during I&S LUP iirc?), and also the Hi Seulgi episode of them together is adorable. Their age difference is so evident, and I’m a fan of the concept of Seulgi loving to have unnies around (i.e. Irene, Seungyeon, Sunmi. Hoping Gyuri joins the list soon!).
Fun fact, and I mentioned this on bsky but this almost became a mommy kink fic, which I never imagined myself writing but it happened so naturally I couldn’t help but be thrilled with it. The only reason I took it out is because I couldn’t find a satisfying way to tie everything together, so I chose to cut it short for the story’s sake, but basically it would go something like this: they’re making out on the couch and Wansun’s cat meows loudly, which makes her say “Mommy’s busy now” — cue exaggerated reaction on Seulgi’s part, Wansun noticing, and hopefully something nasty would follow. Don’t worry, Seulgi, I will let you call someone mommy one day!
It’s so adorable that little Seulgi wants to follow Kim Wansun’s footsteps—not so much that little Seulgi stares at her pictures in magazines and dreams of kissing her mouth.

Okay, so. I’ve known since last year, at least, that girl, so confusing is totally mimin’s song. Idk where I said this (probably bsky) but Minnie often says things that make it seem that she’s constantly in an inner competition with Miyeon and the implications of that are so… delicious, to say the least. She wishes she had Miyeon’s pretty princess persona, and she keeps stating it again and again

Her admitting to crying when Miyeon joined the company because she’d have less lines? Iconic, if you ask me. I know she said it wasn’t out of bad feelings, but I feel like admitting she was jealous would be taking a step too far for an idol lol. Also, I think it was already pretty well known that they weren’t close as trainees and that Miyeon was a bit excluded (not on purpose!), but the confirmation was pretty funny as well.
I didn’t say it in the notes, but the part where Minnie leaves Miyeon some leftovers is inspired by true events, except irl she found Miyeon eating snacks in their room instead of having dinner. Minnie knowing so much about Miyeon from pure observation is canon, too (I can’t find the clips rn, but thinking specifically of Minnie knowing how many beanies Miyeon owns—and then denying that she pays attention at all; Minnie always being the most enthusiastic one whenever Drive plays and knowing the full choreo; Minnie always imitating Miyeon’s mannerisms).
Anyways, shutting myself up or I’ll be talking about mimin forever. I’ve wanted to write a fic for them for such a long time, thank you to the prompter who made my wish come true!

I spent so long trying to find a duo that would work with this prompt (and also where I knew both parties well enough)! Initially I wanted to make it Minnie x Yizhuo but they don’t have that much of an age gap between them, and when Seulgi and Yizhuo came to my mind I knew I needed to do whatever it took to fit them lol. Even if it meant pretending teenage Seulgi would be friends with Yuqi (despite the 5y difference). But irl Yuqi did state they were planning a date together (which I have no idea if it ever happened!! Where is the proof!!), so let’s all just go with it.
I know I just talked about Seulgi loving unnies, but if there’s one thing about me is that I love putting her in situations™. I think Seulgi has such a relatable persona and it makes her so fun to write about.
The one thing I’m unhappy with is that I feel like the pacing is a little off, and the shift between Seulgi’s shy vs possessive side was a bit abrupt. But I definitely won’t go back and rewrite it, so it is what it is. Overall, I’m happy with it, though—I love Yizhuo being a tease and a bit of a brat, and this may be recency bias but I think this might be the most explicit story I’ve written so far.
The dynamics here were so enjoyable to write, hopefully I’ll go back to this pairing soon!
